Reflective Family Shoot in the City | Minneapolis Family & Portrait Photographer

The core of me lives to be outdoors in the natural elements.  I grew up in the MN country surrounded by woods, lakes, fields… bugs and spent 10 years loving my time in Bozeman, MT continuously connected to the Rockies.  Naturally, this is my go to place to photograph.  I love it; it’s home.  BUT when I get into the city, I go wild!  -like a kid who just tasted sugar for the first time.  When asked to photograph a family session in Minneapolis, my first thought is pure excitement for doing something new-to-me, seeking cityscapes… but then the day of comes, and I’m nervous.  Truth be told, it’s the driving in the city that gets me, and that’s why I don’t venture out more.  🙂  It’s getting much easier now luckily.  I’m getting my bearings.

This session was shot in and around the Gutherie Theater.  It was an awesome location with heaps of reflective materials and of course those beautiful cityscapes and lines most of us photographers go nutso for.  The gorgeous family lives in Minneapolis and wanted to do a few images in the awesome Yellow Room at the Gutherie.  This spot was truly unique with the strong yellow cast and gorgeous views.  I am thrilled about the unconventional touch it lends to the images. Enjoy!  ~Abbey

Ben & Allison Married! | Maple Ridge Farm Wedding, Taylors Falls MN

I knew I would love photographing Allison and Ben’s wedding as soon as I discovered they were both as fond of the outdoors as I am and planning a fantastic outdoor ceremony at a gem of a location, Maple Ridge Farm, in Taylors Falls, MN.  It was a quiet, peaceful place when I first arrived, but as the day progressed so did the excitement and energy.  The forecast called for storms, yet the clouds had vanished by ceremony time and when we headed to Interstate Park on the MN side.  I was thrilled Allison said she was game to go for a short hike to breathtaking views in her spectacular dress.  There’s nothing better than photographing a couple in surroundings they love and call home.  Congratulations Allison and Ben!  Capturing your wedding day story through images was my pleasure!

Havenator’s Tow Bike | Stillwater, MN Family Photographer

I’ve had a very busy summer filled with heaps of weddings, children and family shoots, but in the midst of the beautiful chaos, I always pull my camera out and capture my own kiddos.  I know this time is fleeting.  What I love to preserve most are the candid images of my kids that capture the essence of who they are.  This weekend my inquisitive 4 yr. old asked my husband to assist him in turning his big wheel into a tow bike.  My husband gave him a rope and a clip at first, but it just wasn’t good enough!  Finally he pulled out a real tow strap and my son beamed with pride.  He has been towing everything and anything… some things not as successfully as others such as the van… but towing his little sis in her car, Little Red, was perfect in every way.  🙂  -hope you’re soaking up your summer memories in camera too.  Enjoy!

Oh and p.s. The mohawk was also a new addition.  We’ve been neglectful with his overgrown hair, and decided to make good use of it for a few days.  🙂
