This session was gorgeous and memorable. It wasn’t all that long ago that I would have wanted to run the opposite direction if asked to photograph an entire session in the rain/drizzle. …but then this session happened. We had a lovely, colorful and warm fall day in mind for Megan and Shawn’s engagement session, and as I recall, the late afternoon and evening were supposed to be decent from a weather perspective though last October was filled with cooler than average temps. As I was driving to the session in downtown Stillwater, I noticed the drizzle, but half pretended not to see it and half knew Megan and Shawn were already well on their way. So… we met. From a photographer perspective, I love this couple. We agreed, what the heck! We’re all here, let’s just give it a go. And we did. What resulted are some of my personal favorite engagement images.
We had the run of downtown Stillwater, and the light rain made for vibrant, drenched color, and a romantic fog that simply can’t be topped. The session was mostly pretty zen as was the mood… until Shawn busted out some of his wicked dance moves. Ha!
We decided to go check out the St. Croix River Boom Site like originally planned and were greeted with a breathtaking, peaceful beauty. We had Megan’s little guy join us at the end. I think I could melt into his dimples. He’s a cute kid! I am so very much looking forward to this July wedding! There’s a good chance the weather may be a polar opposite, but I know these two will rock their day and life together come rain, shine or whatever.
